This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division where we're focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
The Associate Human Factors Engineer plays a key role in supporting human factors and usability initiatives for medium-sized medical device and software projects, with close supervision. They contribute to larger programs by independently completing detailed tasks and reporting progress on usability-related activities. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify risks and resolve issues, while keeping program leadership informed. The engineer stays current with advancements in usability improvements and provides input where applicable. They exercise independent judgment in planning, organizing, and executing work, while regularly monitoring performance and updating their manager on status.
Using knowledge of customer needs, Company technology, business plans, as well as market research and financial tools such as ROI, contributes to usability improvement projects. Communicates to creation of improvement plans, concepts and status across Marketing, and development staff.
Helps conduct worldwide customer, competitive, and software industry research to identify and prioritize usability improvement possibilities.
Creates detailed usability improvement concepts. Works within internal departments, and project teams’ complete usability improvement activities.
Contributes to the creation of usability related processes
Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
Collaborates closely with functional core team leaders.
Bachelor's Degree discipline appropriate to the project environment
1-2 years of experience in project management.
Requires exposure to human factors concepts and application; the product development process, software technology, and effective methods of working with teams.
Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Travel 30% of the time, including internationally.

The base pay for this position is
$83,500.00 – $153,300.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
