Description

The mission of Brazoria County’s CSCD is to facilitate positive change for a safer community.  The Brazoria County CSCD Mental Health Court Program is recruiting for a Clinical Liaison who will act as a liaison between the mental health court and its partners, facilitating the exchange of information through close collaboration and resolving clinical problems through assessment and treatment services.

Example of Duties

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Court – Attend weekly team staffing and mental health court docket.
  • Screening – Conduct interviews and assessments for applicants.
  • Intake – Conduct initial assessment and complete required documentation at admission.
  • Orientation – Describe the IOP/SOP treatment to new clients.
  • Assessment – Gather data from the client and other sources; analyze and interpret the data to identify client strengths, weaknesses, and needs; diagnose and determine treatment recommendations which may include treatment type and level of care. 
  • Diagnosis – Assign formal mental health and/or substance use related diagnoses using the DSM-5-TR based on a clinical interview and a review of any available collateral records 
  • Treatment Planning – Collaborate with the client to develop treatment plans, identifying and prioritizing problems, goals, and treatment methods.
  • Counseling – Provide mental health and co-occurring individual and group counseling.
  • Education – Provide clients and their families with information about mental health, substance use, co-occurring disorders, treatment, recovery, and resources.
  • Crisis management – Respond to client needs during extreme distress or emergencies.
  • Case Management – Coordinate with clients and resources to focus on identified needs and goals.
  • Referral – Identify client needs and assist client to use community resources and support systems.
  • Consultation – Relate with officers, district attorney’s office, courts, and other professionals on client treatment and services to assure comprehensive care.
  • Record Keeping – Maintain accurate and up-to-date counseling records.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and high ethical and professional standards.
  • Prepare for and participate in individual and group supervision and clinical staff meetings.
  • Report to work promptly at assigned hours and submit accurate time sheets.
  • Meet continuing education and other requirements to maintain professional licenses related to the position.

Qualifications

The Assessment & Treatment Services (ATS) Clinical Liaison must be a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), who is committed to providing quality cognitive/behavioral, trauma-informed care to men and women with mental health and co-occurring disorders.  The ATS Clinical Liaison is a member of the Brazoria County CSCD ATS unit and will serve on the Mental Health Court Program team, providing critical mental health, alcohol and other drug assessments, treatment, and referral services to individuals referred from the department or court system.   The ATS Clinical Liaison may also be required to testify in court concerning evaluations or the treatment of individuals.  Work environment includes office, classroom, BCSO Detention Center, treatment facilities and courthouse.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher required.
  • Licensure as an LPC, LPC-Associate, LCSW, LMSW, or LPA required.
  • Knowledge of psychopathology, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders – characteristics, assessment, diagnosing and treatment.
  • Personal characteristics of maturity and professionalism with a sincere desire to work with recovering individuals.
  • Basic computer skills in word processing, e-mail, and Internet use.
  • Valid state driver’s license and access to transportation.

Supplemental Information

This is a full-time position, which requires a flexible schedule to include evening hours.  The beginning salary ranges from $29.11 to $31.83 dependent on qualifications, experiences, and licensure status (benefits includes health insurance and retirement options).
