Summary:
The Clinical Informatics Specialist I serves as a frontline resource in improving and promoting the understanding, integration, and application of technology related to NOHN electronic health record and clinical systems. This position provides end-user support, training, workflow assistance, and onboarding support while collaborating with clinical and operational teams to promote effective use of technology and standardized workflows.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
End User Support, Training & Workflow Optimization
Provide end-user support for Epic and related clinical applications, including coaching, workflow assistance, and at-the-elbow support across all departments.
Support EHR new hire orientation and ongoing training activities.
Serve as an escalation resource for Information Services Helpdesk staff related to Epic workflows, clinical application issues, end-user support requests, and user adoption challenges.
Partner with Information Services Helpdesk staff to support timely resolution of Epic-related incidents, requests, workflow concerns, and optimization opportunities.
Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Information Services Helpdesk staff regarding Epic workflows, clinical systems, and end-user support best practices.
Workflow & Documentation Support
Develop and maintain EHR documentation including workflows, standard work, user manuals, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
Collaborate with clinical and operational staff to assess workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
Act as a liaison between Information Services, Clinical Informatics, and end users to support resolution of EHR-related issues.
Implementation & Continuous Improvement
Support EHR upgrades, optimizations, and system implementations to promote successful adoption and transition.
Assist with testing, validation, troubleshooting, and resolution of escalated application issues referred by the Information Services Helpdesk.
Contribute to Quality Department and Clinical Informatics projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Clinical experience, certification, licensure, or degree in healthcare, information technology, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum one year of work experience with troubleshooting, teaching, training, implementation, or support of an EHR preferred. Epic Ambulatory experience preferred.
Skills: Adult learning, workflow analysis, customer service, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, documentation, and medical terminology.
Language: English required.
Physical Demands:
Utilize computers in the collection, management, analysis, and reporting of healthcare information. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and travel between NOHN sites. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance.
Work Environment:
Healthcare environment supporting multiple departments and service lines. Frequent interaction with providers, staff, leadership, Information Services, and external Epic support resources.
