The Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) is a strategic leadership role responsible for the design, execution, and operational excellence of Aledade’s risk adjustment coding and clinical documentation programs. Reporting to senior leadership, the Director oversees a high-performing team of coding professionals who support over 1,400 independent primary care practices.
The primary objective of this position is to bridge the gap between clinical care and data accuracy. This involves creating scalable, physician-centric educational programs that provide guidance and education to ensure accurate and complete diagnosis documentation, reflecting a true clinical picture of the patient population. This role requires deep subject matter expertise in HCC coding, value-based care, and physician-centric operations.
- Directs the execution of Aledade’s CDI strategy across partner practices while leading a multidisciplinary team of coders, auditors and analysts to ensure operational excellence and talent development.
- Collaborates with Market Leaders and field teams to align CDI initiatives with regional goals, ensuring seamless service delivery, while navigating specific market nuances.
- Designs framework for coding operations and documentation improvement across diverse care settings, including the oversight of vendor relationships to ensure adherence to industry-leading benchmarks and standards.
- Establishes and monitors operational KPIs and performance quality to foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Ensures strict adherence to CMS, HHS, and OIG guidelines by leading internal audit programs and overseeing the coding Quality Assurance (QA) unit, ensuring all guidance is clinically valid and compliant.
- Serves as a practice-facing spokesperson for Aledade on the importance of complete and accurate diagnosis documentation and the benefits to Aledade, partner practices, their clinicians, and their patients, including message development and refinement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8 + years of Coding/CDI-related leadership experience, with a heavy focus on risk adjustment coding and education in a value-based care or payer environment
- 5+ years of program management, project leadership and execution experience in a healthcare or product related setting
- 5+ years of management experience
- Expert knowledge and experience with risk adjustment methodologies such as CMS-HCC, HHS-HCC, 3M, Milliman, etc.
- Deep understanding of CMS guidelines, compliance requirements, and audit processes.
- Proven success leading large-scale coding and education teams and managing complex vendor relationships.
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets and PPT / Google Slides skills, including strong data analysis, KPI reporting, & executive presentation skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Relevant coding certification required (e.g., CPC, CRC, CCS)

- Strong vision and belief in moving upstream to address diagnosis documentation challenges, including leveraging technology to achieve consistent results at scale
- Sophisticated physician and practice engagement skills
- Strong management and mentorship capabilities, as a manager of direct reports and leader of 20+ team members
- Strong project management capabilities, including demonstrated ability defining, measuring, reporting on, and achieving key metrics of success
- Demonstrated success collaborating across other departments and functions to achieve common goals
- Ability to contribute to both strategic decision-making as a leader within Aledade’s Risk Stratification function, as well as direct the operations of a large CDI team
