Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.
This initiative connects families to food resources such as SNAP, WIC, and emergency food programs. The program promotes food security by helping individuals overcome eligibility and access challenges.
Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for coordinating volunteer opportunities for SNAP recipients participating in work activity requirements and workforce development programs. The Coordinator will accept and review referrals, assess participant eligibility and readiness, facilitate volunteer placements, maintain compliance records, and provide ongoing support to participants and volunteer sites. This position works closely with the Vice President of Workforce Development to ensure program goals, participant engagement, and compliance requirements are met.
The Floater provides supervisory coverage, guidance, and operational support to staff across multiple program sites to ensure the seamless delivery of services during the absence of a supervisor. This position assists individuals and families in accessing public benefits, homelessness prevention resources, and other supportive services while maintaining high standards of customer service, program compliance, and adherence to agency policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPOSABILITIES:
Participant Intake and Referral Management
Receive, review, and process referrals from internal and external partners.
Conduct participant intake, orientation, and eligibility verification.
Review applications and supporting documentation for completeness and program eligibility.
Assess participant interests, skills, barriers to employment, and volunteer readiness.
Maintain accurate participant records in designated databases and case management systems.
Monitor participant enrollment and track attendance, participation, and completion.
Volunteer Placement and Coordination
Identify, develop, andmaintainvolunteer opportunities for SNAP recipients.
Match participants withappropriate volunteerassignments based on skills, interests, and career goals.
Coordinate placement schedules and volunteer assignments with host sites.
Conduct volunteer orientations and provide information regarding expectations, workplace conduct, and program requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for participants and volunteer site supervisors.
Monitor volunteer placements to ensure successful participation and compliance
Floater key Responsibilities
Provide coverage at various program locations as needed due to staff vacancies, leave, training, or other absences.
Assist individuals and families in applying for and maintaining public benefits, including cash assistance, SNAP, Medicaid, rental assistance, and other supportive services.
Maintain accurate and timely client records, case notes, and documentation in agency databases and reporting systems.
Conduct client intake interviews and determine eligibility for available programs and services.
Provide information, referrals, and advocacy to help clients access community resources.
Ensure compliance with program guidelines, confidentiality requirements, and agency policies.
Respond to client inquiries and provide excellent customer service in person, by phone, and electronically.
Collaborate with supervisors, case managers, and community partners to coordinate services and resolve client concerns.
Assist with administrative tasks, data entry, reporting, and special projects as assigned.
Adapt quickly to different program environments, procedures, and staffing needs across multiple sites.
Flexible and reliable, with the ability to travel between program sites as needed.
Participant Support and Workforce Development
Assist participants in addressing barriers to participation, including transportation, childcare, and scheduling concerns.
Reinforce professionalism, workplace etiquette, and employability skills.
Refer participants to workforce training, education programs, supportive services, and employment opportunities
Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with SNAP, agency, funder, and program requirements.
Track and document volunteer hours and participant progress.
Prepare reports on participant outcomes, placements, attendance, and program performance.
Maintain confidential participant recordsin accordance withagency and regulatory requirements.
Participate in audits,monitoringvisits, and quality assurance reviews.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate databases and participant files.
Prepare correspondence, reports, and program updates for leadership.
Assistin developing program procedures, workflows, and participant tracking systems.
Schedule participant appointments, orientations, and follow-up meetings.
Support special workforce development initiatives andprojects asassigned.
Collaboration with Vice President, Workforce Development
Work directly with the Vice President to support workforce development initiatives and strategic goals.
Provide regular updates on participant enrollment, outcomes, and program performance.
Assistwith program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities.
Support grant-funded initiatives and performance reporting requirements.
Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and program improvement efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, Workforce Development, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in workforce development, volunteer management, case management, or human services.
Experience working with SNAP recipients or underserved populations preferred.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
Advanced-level professional competency in written and spoken English language is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.
Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
