Position Summary
The Resident Programs Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive activities program that enriches the lives of residents and supports the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. This role creates meaningful recreational, educational, social, and cultural opportunities that promote engagement, independence, and quality of life while meeting LCS Lifestyles & Health Services standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Resident Programming
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate recreational, educational, social, and wellness programs for residents.
Organize activities including:
Current events and discussion groups
Sensory stimulation programs
Cultural and religious activities
Live entertainment
Community outings
Special events
One-on-one resident visits
Develop monthly activity calendars and promotional materials.
Assess resident interests and individual needs to create personalized activity plans.
Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation, progress, and responses to programming.
Resident & Family Engagement
Coordinate Resident Council and family meetings.
Organize educational sessions and special interest meetings for residents and families.
Recommend recreational resources and activities for residents transitioning from the community.
Assist residents to and from activity locations as needed.
Program Administration
Maintain reports, schedules, and documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Purchase, inventory, and maintain activity supplies and equipment.
Inspect equipment to ensure cleanliness and safe operation.
Coordinate activities and special events with other departments.
Assist with department budget preparation and monitoring.
Leadership & Collaboration
Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers.
Promote the goals and benefits of the recreation program to residents, families, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
Attend required in-service education and maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Resident Program Manager.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification is preferred.
Two years of experience in a social or recreational program within a licensed healthcare setting preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop engaging programs for older adults.
CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements
Frequently stand, walk, stoop, bend, stretch, and squat throughout the workday.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Push residents weighing up to 250 pounds in wheelchairs or geri-chairs when necessary.
Work safely around residents with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
May be exposed to communicable diseases, cleaning chemicals, unpleasant odors, and challenging resident behaviors.
