Job Summary
The Scheduling and Credentialing Coordinator at the Iowa Digestive Disease Center
is responsible for the coordination and organization of provider schedules and is responsible for the management and oversight of the credentialing process for both payers and hospitals.

Education Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent is required

Experience as an administrative assistant or office assistant is required

Experience with schedule management and credentialing in a medical clinic/office setting is preferred

Skills and Requirements

Knowledge and understands medical terminology, or ability to quickly learn medical terminology

Understands scheduling logistics

Effective and professional communication skills in English - both oral and written - through email, phone, fax and in-person dialogue

Detail oriented

Able to use computer, phone, and other business office equipment

Knowledge of and ability to perform basic office skills

Able to follow written and oral instructions

Able to work independently and productively with minimal supervision

Physical activities require sitting for protracted periods of time

Able to problem solve, make routine judgments, prioritize duties and responsibilities, and quickly respond to changing business needs

Job activities may involve Category III exposure to bloodborne pathogens and minimal exposure to chemical hazards

Frequent carrying and lifting up to 15 lbs, occasionally carrying and lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional pulling and pushing up to 75lbs

Frequent walking, sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching

Responsibilities

General Functions

Performs in accordance with the adopted standards and approved policies and procedures

Participation as a team member in support of the total clinic/care processes

Performs duties in a manner which demonstrates understanding and regard for patient’s rights

Must maintain patient and facility confidentiality

Performs in accordance with established continuous quality improvement policies and procedures

Follows emergency codes and measures applying to this position

Supports risk management and participates in programs that are directed to patient and employee safety

Attends and participates in in-service programs and educational endeavors

Schedule Management

Inputs general clinic schedules for providers and resources.

Coordinates and communicates meetings for all providers

Updates schedules, including call schedules, on a regular basis

Provides updates to all providers regarding their schedules

Assists the providers with scheduling adjustments and changes

Assists with correspondence and notifications

Works with attorneys, educators, other physicians, etc., to schedule appointments with providers

Dispenses schedules to hospitals and other facilities as needed for call coverage support

Notifies hospitals and other facilities of schedule changes as needed

Credentialing

Electronically manage credentialing accounts for all providers

Scan & enter all required credentialing documents to payers and hospitals

Create new provider accounts with PECOS and other universal credentialing entities

Maintains up-to-date provider notebooks with regular management of expiration dates for all licenses and certificates

Assists with locating documents for credentialing purposes

May assist with reception, scheduling and filing

Work with local hospitals to ensure continued medical staff privileges for all physicians

Assist providers with CME reports in support of recredentialing requirements

Hours

Monday- Friday 07:00am -3:30pm
